Spam...

Today's spam was a
walk down memory lane as it said
I had made a payment to Atari. I couldn't help but
thinking lovingly of my Atari console and playing
hours and hours of Pitfall! Oh how I loved to
navigate Pitfall Harry across those tar pits and
leap over the crocodiles - maneuvering my joystick
just right so that he landed on their heads and not
in their mouths! Gathering treasures along the way!

Ah, spam, thank you for bringing
me back!

<img

On an unrelated note, Sare, you may NOT eat my

9 Years!

Today marks a milestone - it was 9 years ago today
that I joined the ranks of what is now
Zoomshare/DW. Time truly does fly (yikes, almost a
decade, lol)!! I can't even begin to
describe the amazing experience this has been and
looks to be.

I've been fortunate to work
with some exceptionally talented and dedicated
people - both on staff and as clients/customers. I
look forward to another 9 years - and more! Thanks all!

No Internet...Not as scary as one might think!

So, for the past few days I've had sporadic
internet access at home (if any access at all,
thanks Comcast!). And while it drove me nuts, this
happened to be a good week for it! I love horror
films, even bad ones, and boy I've watched plenty!

Microsoft Issues Record Number of Security Updates (Washington Post)

Microsoft Corp. on Tuesday issued an unprecedented
number of updates to fix security problems in PCs
powered by its Windows operating systems and other
software: The software giant released patches to
plug at least 34 security holes, the highest number
of vulnerabilities it has ever addressed in a
single month....(<a

Last Chaos

So I've been branching out in my MMO experience
lately and while I'm still new to the world of
gaming, I've found that I'm pretty dedicated. I've
been testing out various games (though my true love
is still Evony) and started playing Last Chaos the
other day. Thus far I've rather enjoyed my
experience. I play on a PvP server but it's pretty
quiet - being new to gaming (ie - not played much
in the way of video games since the days of
original PlayStation) it's nice not to be killed
every 5 minutes by aggressive, more experienced
players.

I find the general actions, among other things like
some of the quests, a bit confusing as the
instructions are not always the most clear - for
example, your character can have a pet that you
develop along with your character, with enough care
it can turn into a mount or you can dismantle it
for very specific resources. So I got my pet horse,
and maybe it's just me not being familiar enough
with games of this nature, but it took me forever
to figure out how to feed the darn thing
(apparently you do NOT go to the Pet Shopkeeper and
buy food items :/ because that would be, um,
silly). Rather you go and mine for rocks or harvest
for herbs. That makes TONS of sense. I, obviously,
made the mistake of buying a Cheese Cookie from the
Pet Shopkeeper - and within the description of the
item it refers to a "Human Type Pet" - I have yet
to figure out who eats the Cheese Cookie and where
one gets a "Human Type Pet" as I have a horse and
soon a dragon - neither seem particularly humanoid
and will not eat the Cheese Cookie....

I selected a Rogue for my character's type as the
two friends I play with selected other types (Mage
and Titan) - I figured we should have a variety of
skill sets as we roam around together. I have yet
to figure out what the benefit of this character is
- like what specific skills she has to offer. But
at level 16 I don't think I should expect much. I'm
still leveling up my various attributes and gaining
new weaponry.

Since I don't really have much experience, I can
only really compare LC to Evony. The graphics are
much better than that of the two dimensional Evony
world (which I've played since Beta/Civony) but I
find it to be much less strategic. There is by far
more "action", if you will, and yet I do not feel
the same sense of attachment to my LC character as
I do my Evony persona. I have enjoyed the diplomacy
side of Evony - which does not yet exist for me in
LC as I have not joined a clan (or whatever they
call it). There is an instant gratification found
in LC that does not always exist in Evony - Evony
is certainly not for those who lack patience! I do
like the fact that with LC, when it's shut down, no
one is killing me or taking my stuff - lol.

Now, LC does surpass Evony in one area by
leaps and bounds! Connectivity. Evony lags. Badly.
Sometimes I can't even sign in to Evony. Or it
leaks browser memory and crashes entirely. Being
that it's a browser based game this really hampers
game-play. For LC, you do have do install their
program. I wish Evony would come with an optional
download to enhance game-play for those of us addicts.

That all said, I'm going to continue to
play both games and I'll always be on the lookout
for more. Being that I'm a true Evony addict, I
don't know how many I'll play simultaneously but
I'll certainly keep LC around.
